André Almeida Pinto (born 5 October 1989) is a Portuguese association football player who played primarily as a centre-back. He was born in Vila Nova de Gaia, Porto District, Portugal, and joined the youth system of FC Porto at age 9. While developing through Porto's academy (1999-2008, with a youth loan at Padroense in 2004-05), he established himself as a tall and defensively strong prospect.
Pinto's senior career began under contract at Porto, though he did not make a first-team appearance. Instead, he was successively loaned to clubs such as Santa Clara (2008-09), Vitória de Setúbal (2009-10), Portimonense (2010-11), and Olhanense (2011-12), accumulating experience in Portugal's leagues. In 2012 he moved abroad to Panathinaikos in Greece, appearing in domestic and cup matches. He later returned to Portugal in late 2013, signing with SC Braga (initially in Braga B, then the main squad) and stayed through to 2017. In April 2017 he agreed to join Sporting CP (effective from July), featuring in domestic competitions. Subsequent moves included a one-year contract with Al Fateh in Saudi Arabia (2019-20), then S.C. Farense (2021), and in September 2021 a one-year deal at Dinamo București.
Internationally, André Almeida Pinto represented Portugal at various youth levels (U16, U17, U18, U19, U20, U21, U23) before making a single senior cap in a friendly against Cape Verde on 31 March 2015 (he was sent off in the 60th minute). His honours include winning the Taça de Portugal with Braga in 2015-16, and with Sporting CP in 2018-19, as well as Taça da Liga with Sporting in 2017-18 and 2018-19. Overall, André Almeida Pinto's career reflects the path of a tall, defensively minded centre-back who carved roles in both domestic and foreign clubs and earned recognition at the national level.
