Eric Nazarian is an Armenian-American film director and screenwriter whose work bridges multicultural narratives and urban realities. Born in Hrazdan, Armenia in 1976, he immigrated to the United States with his family at age four, eventually growing up in Glendale and Los Angeles. After completing Verdugo Hills High School, he earned a B.A. in Film Production at the University of Southern California's School of Cinematic Arts, where his early work explored transnational ties among immigrant communities.

Nazarian's debut feature as writer-director was The Blue Hour (2007), a multi-narrative film centered on working-class life near the Los Angeles River. The Blue Hour premiered at the 55th San Sebastián International Film Festival, was shortlisted for the Altadis-New Director Award, and won multiple honors including Best Film in the Armenian Panorama at the Golden Apricot Festival. In 2008, he won the Academy's Nicholl Fellowship for his screenplay Giants. He directed the short Bolis (2010), part of a transnational anthology, and later served as co-writer (with Jon Avnet) on Three Christs (2017), starring Richard Gere and Peter Dinklage. In 2021, Nazarian completed Die Like a Man, the first in a planned trilogy examining rites of passage, violence, and gentrification in contemporary Los Angeles.

Nazarian is known for integrating community collaboration and social consciousness into his filmmaking, casting local nonactors and advocating film literacy in underserved areas. He is a member of the Writers Guild of America and has lectured on issues of diaspora, memory, and the intersections of street life and cinematic representation. His work continues to contribute to conversations about identity, marginalization, and urban storytelling in American and Armenian cinema.
