    Karmapa ordered that prayers be offered at Rumtek Monastery for 49 days, as is customary.  Rumtek, in Sikkim, India, had been established by the 16th Karmapa Rigpe Dorje as the seat of the Kagyu denomination in exile.  Other monasteries are following suit.
